June’s Month of Mango Sees Organic Mango Tastings, Cookery and Mixology Classes, Five-Course Feasts, Mango Spa Treatments, Plantations Tours and More…

Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet, St Lucia, are pleased to reveal details of their fun, fruit-focused Month of Mango in June that will see weekly organic mango tastings, ‘mad mango’ cocktail parties, cookery and mixology classes, five-course mango-inspired feasts, mango spa treatments, farm-to-table plantation tours and more. The month will culminate in a six-day Mango Madness Festival, with daily mango-inspired activities, taking place from 27th June – 2nd July 2017.

Nick and Karolin Troubetzkoy, owners of Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain, pioneered the movement in the Caribbean to stop importing produce that can be grown locally and up to 40% of the ingredients used at the two resorts are grown at the properties’ 600 acre, certified organic estate. In June, St Lucia’s 24 different types of mango ripen and the mango madness, farm-to-table, festivities begin!

Throughout the month of June guests will have the chance to work with the resorts’ expert mixologists to learn how to craft the perfect mango martini, mango mojito and mango daiquiri. These skilled barmen will help introduce the natural mango flavour into almost any drink.

The resorts’ Consulting Chef, Allen Susserthe National Mango Board’s spokesman and author of the Great Mango Book – will invite guests to participate in interactive cooking classes on a weekly basis, a chance to concoct anything from sticky mango jam to zesty mango chutney – all of which are free to take home.

Weekly mango-tasting sessions throughout June will showcase the versatility of this tropical fruit whilst avid food fans will have the option of signing up to a spectacular, five-course mango tasting dinner.

Guests can also visit the hotels’ organic farm with Allen and meet innovative Estate Manager Dr Pawan Srivastava. Pawan has a PhD in horticulture and has introduced a number of plant species to the farm. This is a chance to see the mango trees growing and also take in the wide variety of natural produce that is available on-site including kale, asparagus, mushrooms, vanilla beans, nutmeg trees and cinnamon trees. Guests will also learn the secret healing power of certain local produce, and fun theories such as how the cocoa tree is the most intelligent of all plant species!

Alternatively, guests can take a leisurely meander through the Anse Mamin plantation with tour guide Meno. Now a plantation for mango trees, cocoa plans and other fascinating species, the land was originally a sugarcane plantation in the 18th century and has a troubling but important story to tell.

Elsewhere, guests can indulge with a natural range of mango body scrubs, wraps and massages at Jade Mountain’s Kai en Ciel Spa and Anse Chastanet’s Kai Belte Spa. Those keen to continue the mango madness at home can stockpile mango products at the hotels’ boutiques, including candles, jams and natural beauty products.

The Month of Mango culminates in the Mango Madness Festival which takes place from 27th June – 2nd July. Guests can meet the entire culinary team during a string of daily events that promise to leave them with newfound knowledge of St. Lucia’s edible treasure.
