The love is in the details. This is the motto that Nicole De Feo, founder of Le Détail, lives and works by.  Always striving to stand out from the crowd, she is extremely creative and has knack for noticing and paying attention to the smallest of details.
Nicole believes, it is the little things that make the BIG things possible.
After earning a degree in marketing, Nicole went on to pursue a career in the fashion industry. Where she held various positions as a Visual Merchandiser, Sales Associate, Fashion Assistant, and lastly as a Stylist.
She has worked with some of the world’s top fashion and luxury brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
Her skills were honed not only through the constant exposure to these avant-garde designers, but also through constantly challenging herself to think outside of the box, coupled with the same level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Le Détail was created from Nicole’s passion for putting all the pieces to together to make something truly unique.
What inspired you to set up your own business ?

I have had the opportunity to work for several large companies, and while I enjoyed my time and experiences in those environments, I knew that I always wanted to have my own business and be my own boss. It was a dream of mine.

What drew you to this business ?

The answer is very simple, I LOVE to organize things! I also need to do different things, and having projects that are new all the time is a perfect fit for me.

Who is your role model in this business and why?

There are lots of people who do events, but only a handful who do them extremely well. I admire Colin Cowie, he can make anything exquisite.

Getting in the Swing of things!
You had your official launch party earlier in thé Year and chose a Gatsby theme – why?

Honestly, I have been wanting to have a 20’s themed party for a while, so it seemed like the perfect time. I am enthralled with that era, women and men actually dressed up to go out and took a certain pride in their appearance that I think is missing today.

You count many of Geneva’s VIPs in your client list …. Can you name a few?

Sorry, but I can not.

Your job is often viewed as super glamorous, can you describe your average day on the job for us?

Actually, it is not all that glamorous. I do have a good time at my job because I love what I do. After all the meetings with the clients are over and the actual event is approaching I usually spend my days doing the following;

Re-contacting the venue and visiting it if need be. Following up, with caterers, florists, press DJ’s,photographers, lighting, anyone who is involved in making the event happen. The day of the event I am in touch with clients as often as they need me, and hours before the event I am in place to make sure everything is perfect.

Then it is party time!!

Happy Smiley People Having Fun!

What has been the strangest request thus far?

Fortunately, I have not had any strange requests. What is strange to one might be normal to another. I try my best to satisfy the clients wishes.

Have you ever had to say no to a request and why?

Luckily, no I have  not.

If you could choose your next theme what would it be?

In the Fall I am definitely feeling a funky disco party!

If you could choose your next client from past or present who would it be and why?

Definitely Oprah Winfrey. She thinks BIG!  I would love the chance to make her dreams a reality.

Fit for a King!
Food and drink features heavily in your events – what foods and drinks are an absolute must at a Luxury VIP event?

They are an extremely important part of an event. What is a must for one client could be different for another.

I like to really listen to what the direction the client wants and then I go from there. Basic rules I like to follow are creating a signature cocktail for the event and making sure the food is event appropriate. Meaning it can be easily served and consumed.

How important is the location for your events?

You know what they say, “ location, location, location”. It’s not everything but it does help enormously to set the tone of the event.

The difference is in the details!
What cannot be missing at your events?

I LOVE swag bags! They are a great detail and it shows the guest that you really have thought of everything.

What makes a successful party/event?

This one is unfortunately, not always in my control; the guests. If they are there but not exactly, the liveliest bunch or worse, they do not show up at all.

What should be avoided like the plague when organising an event?

A bad location.

The importance of Dress Code
How important is the dress code and why?

The dress code is pretty important especially if it is a themed event. If really helps set the mood and tone for the event.  If a host/ess has requested a certain attire, then you should try your best and abide by it. It is only polite.

As a Mother of two you have also been involved in organising parties for kids, yours and others – what are the challenges organising kid events?

Children’s parties are fun. The kids are normally easy and just happy to be having a party. However, the parents can get a bit stressed out. If you can assure the parents then all is well.

How has becoming a Mother made you a more successful entrepreneur?

It has given me stores of patience that I never knew I possessed. I feel like if I can deal with two high energy young boys, I can deal with anything.

Every angle is catered for!
You are a well known fashionista in Geneva, what are your favorite designers?

Thank you. I love shoes, so my favorites are Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin. I adore all things Chanel.  For clothes I like  Diane Von Furstenburg and JCRew.  I am so happy they have started shipping internationally.

If you had to recommend several stores to friends descending in Geneva for a shopping spree where would you recommend?

Notting Heel and Charivari for shoes, Picibi, Bon Genie, Julia’s Dressing for amazing vintage finds and believe it or not, Zara.

What do you love of Geneva?

I love that it is in the center of Europe.

Born and bred in the US what do you miss of the US?

I miss the ease and convenience of things.

The Perfect Host!
You have described your company as a luxury event management company, how do you like to define luxury?

Luxury is a very personal thing. I think something is a luxury if it makes YOU feel good.

Some luxury companies have subscribed to a rather more democratic view of luxury redefining it as ‘accessible luxury’, do you subscribe to this view or is luxury in your opinion strictly tied to ‘exclusivity’?

I definitely believe in the accessibility of luxury. Just because something is exclusive does not necessarily make it luxurious and vice versa. It is all about how something makes you feel.

How would you define Le Detail?

This is one of my favorite quotes, and it pretty much hits the nail on the head: “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.” —Coco Chanel

At Le détail, with  each new project I try to do something new and different, that is my challenge and my passion.

How would you define Nicole De Feo?

Creative, Determined, Loyal, Adventurous, and Independent.

Following her Heart
What is your definition of happiness?

Happiness is being surrounded by people who love and support you, ALWAYS.
