A. LANGE & SÖHNE SUPPORTS THE CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE IN GREAT GATSBY STYLE!

Lange 1 Time Zone

The winner of the most elegant car on the at the event, to be held on the 25th May at Como’s exclusive Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, will be presented with a unique timepiece from A. Lange & Söhne.  The  personalised special model of the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE has its  hand-engraved case back in white gold  which displays the competition’s coat of arms. On the city ring of this time-zone watch, central European time is represented by the town of Como.

The programme will be rounded off by a special exhibition to mark the 110th anniversary of the Rolls-Royce brand and the “100 years of Maserati” jubilee.

The luxury watch brand’s sponsorship is most fitting for this traditional competition (now at its 85th edition) that celebrates the motor car as a design icon and art object.

In the words of Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid, the Concorso d’Eleganza represents a logical complement to the brand’s commitment to the cultural field:

Both the automobile sector and fine watchmaking have marked historically important milestones in the development of technology and design. That creates interesting cross-connections which make this event so attractive to our customers.”

The “Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este” is perhaps the most significant of all events celebrating the mystique of Historic Cars. It is undoubtedly the most traditional event and was held for the first time in the heyday of aristocratic cars in 1929. Revived in the 1990s the Concorso is epitomised by the beauty of the setting at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Villa Erba.
Grand Hotel Villa D’Este – Como, Italy
The Grand Hotel Villa d’Este is one of the world’s leading hotels and the grounds on the shores of Lake Como offer guests and visitors the opportunity to admire some 50 Historic Cars built between the 1920s and the 1980s.
The cars are organised in different categories and an exclusive panel of experts led by president Lorenzo Ramaciotti judges the cars to select the Best of Show prize, the BMW Group Trophy.
This trophy is reserved for an extraordinary automobile which expresses beauty, passion and uniqueness. The public at Villa d’Este forms a key element in the drama of the Concorso as they reward participants with applause and cast their votes. The Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este is the most traditional prize of the Concorso and the award is decided by a public vote at the Villa d’Este.
A prize awarded to the contemporary Concept Car was introduced in 2002 and this prize has been a regular feature of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este since then. The trophy creates a link between the glorious past and the exciting future of the automobile. The spectacular success of the Consorso has been largely empowered by the partnership of the BMW Group as the organiser of this event since 2005.
