One thing many of the Green Pebbles Girls enjoy doing is visiting antique shops, second hand shops and of course the various flea markets in the Genevan and French-border region. Aside from some incredible finds in terms of furniture and vintage clothing, we do have a penchant for luxury and fashion related books.
This beautiful book “JAEGER-LECOULTRE. The History of The Grande Maison”, we found in a fair in Old Town Geneva.
The author, Franco Cologni, a writer and historian ( as well as chairman of the Cultural Council of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and since 2007 Non-executive Director and Advisor to Richemont’s Chairman and CEO) has penned many books on the history of watchmaking and jewellery including “The Secrets of Vacheron Constantin” and “Cartier, the Tank Watch”. The book covers the incredible history of Swiss Jaeger-LeCoultre, as well as analysing dozens of vintage and current collections.
The photography in this book is amazing. The two photographers are Italian Maurizio Galimberti whose works have been the object of numerous exhibitions and draws inspiration from the Cubist, Dadist and avant garde movements (he has photographed the likes of Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro), and Canadian master in the art of portraits, Douglas Kirkland famous for his portraits of Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo di Caprio and Nicole Kidman.
A must have for Jaeger-LeCoultre fans but also for those of us who love beautiful design, style and photography.
